Last night was the first of our Monster Buzz debates, kicking off with the topic of ‘What’s more critical, talent acquisition or talent management?’
Joining us on the panel were Steve McNally, EB and Inclusivity Expert – Matt Jeffrey, Head of EMEA Talent – Acquisition & Global Talent Brand at Autodesk – Jon Ingham, HR whizz and blogger – Marilyn Davidson, Director APSCo – and Isabelle Hung, Global Head of AMS Talent Acquisition.
There was a great diverse mix of opinions in the room and a few points from the evening came through loud and clear. How can we really define ‘talent’? Would companies benefit from having a database of their current employee’s skills and experiences? Why is it important for staff to move upwards instead of building on their skills by moving sideways? Is internal mobility hindered by managers who like to keep the staff they’ve trained on their team?
So who came out on top? At the end of the night we had a vote – no fence-sitting allowed. The majority vote decided Talent Management is more important. Do you agree? You can always join in the discussion by tweeting with the hashtag #MBuzz.
You can also join us at our next event which will take place on September 13th. In the meantime, keep an eye out for a video of the event which we shall make available soon.
Thanks to everyone who attended for a wonderful evening.
